CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Corian©
There are three types of countertop finishes: matte/satin, semi-gloss and high-gloss*. Most countertops are finished with a matte/satin finish. All sinks have a matte/satin finish. Soapy water, ammonia based cleaners or commercially available solid surface cleaners will remove most dirt and residue from all types of finishes. Stubborn residue will require a little stronger cleaner.
Counter Tops
CLEANING ALL FINISHES ~ Most dirt & residue Use soapy water or ammonia based cleaner, rinse and wipe dry.
This is extra important when hard or well water is used
Water marks ~ Wipe with damp cloth and wipe dry
DIFFICULT RESIDUE~ Spray residue with Deep Cleaner for DuPont Corian® from Stone Care International, wait for about 30 seconds for cleaner to work. Wipe dry with a paper towel. If residue persists, repeat process. If residue still persists, follow directions for removing scratches.
DISINFECTING ~ Occasionally wipe surface with dilute household bleach (1 part water/1 part bleach). Rinse top thoroughly with water and wipe dry.
Sinks & Lavatories
CLEANING ~ Follow procedures above or use Soft Scrub®** and a green Scotch-Brite®* pad to remove residue. Rub Scotch-Brite®* pad over entire sink to blend in finish.
DISINFECTING ~ Occasionally fill sink 1/4 full with diluted household bleach (1 part water/1 part bleach). Let stand for 15 minutes, then wash sides and bottom as solution drains. Rinse sink with water.
Avoid exposing Corian® to strong chemicals, such as paint removers, oven cleaners, etc. If contact occurs, quickly flush the surface with water. Do not cut directly on Corian® countertops. Boiling water alone will not damage your Corian® sink, however it’s a good practice to run your faucet while pouring boiling water into your sink.
Corian® is an excellent material for heat resistance. As with all countertop materials, it is important to use common sense to minimize direct heat exposure to protect your surface and investment. Use heat trivets or hot pads when placing hot objects on any surface and allow cookware to cool before placing them into a Corian® sink.
Zodiaq©
Even though Zodiaq resists permanent staining when exposed to liquids (such as wine, vinegar, tea, lemon juice and soda) or fruits or vegetables, wipe up food and liquid spills as soon as possible.
For stubborn or dried spills, use a nonabrasive cleaning pad such as a white 3M Scotch-Brite scrub pad coupled with Formula 409 Glass & Surface Cleaner or a comparable product. Avoid using cleansers that contain bleach.
Zodiaq can withstand exposure to normal cooking temperatures from pots, pans and dishes without being damaged. To maintain the beauty of Zodiaq, do not place hot skillets or roasting pans directly onto the surface. DuPont recommends the use of trivets and hot pads.
Stone
What’s the best way to clean, care, and maintain marble and other stones?
The old rule of thumb is never to use anything you wouldn’t use on your hands. Never use powdered cleansers or abrasive pads to clean your stone. Even "soft scrub" type cleaners contain pumice, which is powdered volcanic stone, and might damage your stone countertops or floors. Never use any product which is acidic, this also includes substances like ammonia or many common liquid cleaners such as WindexTM. Typically, just mild dishing liquid will suffice for daily cleaning. When necessary, you should however always use sealers to protect the stone from absorbing any potentially staining liquid. As well, cleaning products designed and formulated specifically for natural stone is the best way to care, clean, and maintain your investment. Also, we recommend reading a publication produced by the Marble Institute of America titled, “Care & Cleaning of Natural Stone Surfaces”; this brochure explains the “how to” basics on maintaining stone, as well as providing a few tips on protecting your stone investment. Cambria©
There is no special maintenance required, ever. Just wipe it up with warm water. Unlike other countertops, there is no sealing, buffing, or reconditioning ever needed.
